about the artist

Margaret Willmoth Jensen is a contemporary artist who has created a fresh approach to the ancient art of mosaic.  She works without boundaries, enjoying the freedom to create her art exactly the way she sees it.

Abstract in nature, the work of this artist is both dramatic and original.  “I work in glass because it is a visually compelling medium that offers an infinite combination of color properties, textures and reflective qualities.   Glass evokes the forms of movement that we see in the sky, land and bodies of water.  The beauty of the glass itself inspires me to create.”

Intersecting colors are a key element in Margaret’s work.  “I am often asked about my choice of color.  The colors of nature motivate me.  I grew up in the English countryside surrounded by a natural landscape that changed with the seasons.   My summers were spent in Southern Spain where I embraced the vibrant colors of the Mediterranean.  Part of my inspiration comes from my life experience and travels, the rest lies within my imagination.”

A native of the United Kingdom, Margaret currently lives and creates her art in Southern California.
